When we think of health, we tend to think of a state where
there is no illness in the body. However, that view is quite one-sided as
health is not merely the absence of disease. Being healthy requires more than
that; it requires the entire body to function harmoniously and presupposes
certain wholesomeness. Early to bed and early to rise, might not be enough to
make one healthy, wealthy and wise after all! Holistic wellness is attained
only when one has spiritual health as well.
We do quite a lot for our physical health. While
paying attention to one’s diet and exercise is necessary, it caters to the
well-being of only one aspect of our being. As humans, we are multi-faceted.
Just as our physical body needs food and care, our spiritual body cannot be
neglected. The spiritual practices of meditation, purification and character building keep our spiritual body
healthy. While the right food and the right exercise benefits our tangible
form, our energy body needs spiritual
energy to thrive.
Let’s take a quick glance at the process of Divine energy healing. God is the ultimate source of Divine healing energy. During healing, this powerful energy passes through the many higher beings (healing angels, avatars and spiritual teachers) before being channeled into the healer and finally to the person being healed. Without this energy-funnel of sorts, the strength and proportion of the Divine energy is too much to handle for any ordinary person who is being healed. Moreover, Divine spiritual healing energy is self-conscious and does not require to be guided. It is seen as electric-violet light and has the healing properties of all other color Pranas. It is usually used for serious illnesses and can result in rapid healing of many patients simultaneously.
“Light, love, power, and clarity come from a strong spiritual connection.” - Grand Master Choa Kok Sui
This spiritual connection refers to the spiritual cord of every person. This spiritual cord grows with spiritual maturity and denotes the level of union one has achieved with his/her higher soul. Oneness with the higher self is necessary for the person to be able to serve as a channel for Divine Love, Light and Power.
If diseases first appear in the aura or energy body before manifesting in the physical body and healing the energy body heals the physical body, it is clear that there is a strong relation, an interdependent kinship between spirituality and health.
Spiritual health has many aspects. If you take the view of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, self-actualization or realization of one’s higher purpose and full potential is the final need and can be aimed at only after all the base needs have been satisfied.
Need for Self-Actualization
Need for Self-Esteem
Social Needs
Need for Safety
Physiological Needs
A person may not be financially insecure or unstable but
might still be motivated towards attaining self-actualization. Spiritual health
might be the primary goal but it does not have to be attained “after” all other
needs have been satiated. A spiritually healthy person would be in more in tune
with everything internally and externally than a person who is merely
physically healthy. More importantly, spiritual health would actually result in
improved physiological, emotional and mental health. Spiritual health thus
leads to a more wholesome health.
